I'm Back?

Hello!!! Welcome back, self. I've been veeeeerrrryyyy busy for a while and it feels quite refreshing to be blogging again. This blog entry is going to be a long one. I was looking at my blog the other day and realized that I don't have enough posts about my college life. I figured that now is the right time that I tell you all about it. I'm glad that I was able to salvage some photos from my previous years in college just so I could show them to you.
Okay. The last time I posted anything Nursing related was during my 1st year in college. WOW. Four years ago. Good job, Gerone. The photo above was taken during the last few months of my freshman year while the photo below was during our last days as seniors. My college memories would never be complete without my classmates from 1st year.

Let us go back to my 2nd year in Nursing school. Honestly, second year was a pretty chill year for me. I still had enough time to fangirl over Coldplay. In fact, most of my second year memories involved Coldplay.

School-wise, though, second year was filled with "firsts".  First exposure to the ward, first exposure to the community, first exposure to the delivery room, first set of requirements, first nervous-breakdown. LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Kidding aside, I loved my memories from 2nd year. I made new set of friends. I cared for real patients with real feelings. I even got capped (photo above). Milestones were definitely set during that year.

Third year, however, was a reeeeaaaal challenge. I was mentally, physically, and emotionally drained. I was not that happy with life. I struggled with the lectures and the duties. I was not in my best condition.

Nonetheless, with the help of my family, my friends, and constant prayers, I made it through third year... intact.

It was also during my third year that I discovered my love... my love for the operating room (bahahahaha).

I went out of my comfort zone during my exposure in the Mental Health Unit and enjoyed that rotation a lot.

Photos taken during our Grand Ball Night.

My last year in nursing was a blast and I'm happy to share my memories (and exclusive photos) with you.

Before having our exposure in the hospital, we had our RLEs in school. We had training for emergency and disaster nursing. The photo above shows you my experience of being both a rescuer and a patient. EXCITING!!!

I used to dread my exposures in the clinical area during my previous years in nursing. Surprisingly, I enjoyed all my rotations in the hospital during my fourth year. I was exposed to the ICU setting, the Emergency room setting and the private rooms. It was during my fourth year that I *finally* got the hang of working as an *actual* nurse.

During our senior year, we went back to Community Health Nursing. What I love about CHN are the jeepney rides. No kidding. We would always play throwback songs during our trip to the community. I enjoyed DJ-ing and singing along with my group mates.

The most memorable experiences I've had with CHN are the mini "food trips" to the nearest sari-sari stores. Siomai, gummies, halo-halo, fishball, you name it. With those mini "food trips" came mini heart attacks. We had to be extra careful not to be caught by our clinical instructors. Health? More like #stealth

Photo taken during our seminar for hyperthyroidism. Our seminar theme was inspired by Wimbledon.

The photo above was taken during our last day of duty in the hospital. That gray thing on my forehead is ash... because it was Ash Wednesday. I said it once and I'm saying it again. I loved my exposure in the hospital during my fourth year. My group mates played a huge role in making RLE days a little bit brighter. D'awwww.

Our last few months in nursing were spent on graduation practices. My friends and I were usually at the very back of the line because of our family names (Poor 'ol Flavia Zaldivar). We would sing and practice going up and down the stage for hours under the scorching heat of the sun (chooossss), but who's complaining? Not me. I'm graduating.

Hail theeeee graduation daaaaay!!!!!!

Okay. This is where the nightmare comes in. I did not enjoy my graduation to the fullest because of this thing we call "The Board Exam". The day after our graduation... we started our SUPER DUPER INTENSIVE review. Apparently, not everything ends right after graduation for us student nurses. We spent most of our days in school for almost 3 months just for review. That was not enough, though. We were housed in Punta Villa for 10 days as well. Photos below show my experience during the in house.

I must say, the in house was quite an experience. We grew closer as a batch and strengthened our faith together. This truly helped us in achieving our goal of getting a hundred percent passing rate.

All the blood, sweat, tears (BUCKETS) and prayers paid off when we ALL passed the board exam with 12 top-notchers coming from the batch.

Yes, my friends, I am now officially a registered nurse.

I am now off to my next chapter in life. SEE YOUUUU!!!!
